I RECENTLY MADE A BABY AFGHAN FOR A FRIEND IN SWIGGLES WHITE. I WORKED SIX ROWS OF A RIPPLE PATTERN, AND ON THE SEVENTH ROW, I WOULD WORK TRIPLE CROCHET SOLID WHITE RUFFLES ACROSS, WORKING INTO THE STEM OF EACH STITCH IN THE PREVIOUS ROW. AFTER THE ROW OF RUFFLES WAS FINISHED, I RESUMED WITH THE SWIGGLES WHITE FOR THE NEXT SIX ROWS, SO ON AND SO FORTH, WITH A SIMPLE OUTER BORDER OF DOUBLE CROCHET. THE EFFECT RESEMBLED A PAIR OF BABY'S RHUMA PANTS WITH THE ROWS OF WHITE RUFFLES AGAINST THE SWIGGLES VARIEGATED. IT WAS A BIG HIT AT THE SHOWER.

This question is for Jean Senn. I would love to make your baby afghan! It sounds great! Could you give me simpler directions? What size hook, how many chains to start, how did the triple crochet make the ruffles? when you say stem of each stitch what do you mean? thanks for your help. susan

UNIQUE -- WIGGLES soft & colorful orlon yarn. . . I ordered 14 different colors in July 2008 from SMILEY'S YARNS in New York ($2.00/skein. I've crocheted a soft baby blanket using 4 colors)--a real HIT for my niece's shower; a toddler shrug in pink & orange; & 6 various colored scarves (2, 3 or 4 colors). I've been wearing red/orange/gold, red/orange/navy, cherry/red/orange/navy or cherry/purple/red scarves often as a substitute teacher & received lots of compliments. Some students look at the snubs to see all the colors & are AMAZED. I had to watch constantly as I crocheted so nubs are not pulled, so it took longer time. I have NOT seen anyone ever wearing a clothing item with this UNIQUE yarn. I LOVE IT!

I just logged onto SMILEY'S YARNS website & Wiggles is selling for $1.99/skein, same price I paid last July. A good DEAL, right? Have to pay a set rate for postage, however.
